Lending a Helping Hand. The Story of an NGO….

Let me take you to the story of someone of a humble origin, who went on to start an NGO to lend a helping hand to the deprived ones in his neighbourhood.

” My name is Raghvendra Pratap Singh, and I hail from Uttar Pradesh. Since childhood, I have seen people begging on the streets. Some children do not have bread, clothes, or even a house to sleep in, and I, on the other hand, was getting every best possible facility of education, health, and food. These very amenities made me value such things and sensitized me towards people who are without such necessities. Also, I saw videos of Varun Pruthi sir, in which he used to give gifts to beggars instead of money. I was motivated by him and the sight of young children begging for money to make India a beggar-free country.

I started helping Hut NGO, which became the first step towards making India a beggar-free country. I have the vision to make India such a country, where every person has a job and, instead of begging, he is capable to earn his basic needs. Along with this, our organization started a campaign to make people aware of beggars, in which they were informed that instead of giving money to beggars, they should provide them with food to eat or other necessities.

Apart from this, I believe that education is the most powerful weapon in this era through which we can make our country self-reliant and beggar-free. Keeping this in mind, I started “Udaan-Street School” with our tireless volunteers, under which we are teaching 250+ students at different places every day and also developing basic moral values among them. Along with this we also organize fun activities for kids like drawing competitions, food competitions, various games, etc.

At the time of Covid, I tried to form teams in almost every city of India under Helping Hut with my volunteers, and in the end,  teams of more than 200 volunteers were formed in 15 to 20 cities. Following this, we created a helpline number, through which people used to contact oxygen cylinders and other medical facilities. Our team used to provide the goods as per the requirement in the shortest possible time to the distressed.

Currently, under Helping Hut, we have teams in more than 10 cities of India with over 750 volunteers registered. We celebrated the 2nd anniversary of Helping Hut on 1st July 2022, in different cities by conducting various activities. “
