Eclipse

It gets so dark inside my mind that although I see a speck of light shimmering in the far distance, my mind is too dark of a place to hope again.

And yet, why do I keep going on?

I see her shining self approaching me. She’s bright and soothing like moonlight. There’s something heart-touching and lovely about her, which is so much better than the monotonous dull sunlight. It is so boring for me to go on, day after day, I’ve no energy or enthusiasm left. But as she walks into my life, she’s bringing new inspiration and hope.

I watch her inching closer and slowly drift into a beautiful sleep, dreaming of good things under her spell of moonlight. Suddenly, something dark and chilly sets me awake. I open my eyes, only to see her turning her back on me, the brighter part swiftly disappearing from sight. Instead, it is replaced by the darker side, and a long shadow starts to cover me in the dark.

I start to freak out as she begins cutting me off from the world. Now, the sunlight and its warmth won’t reach me anymore, and everything is cold and chilly. I slowly start to figure out what actually happened. I realize the bright, shining, lovely moon, which appeared to approach me with her arms wide open, has shut me in the darkness.

Now, I want my boring life, lit and kept warm by the monotonous sunlight, back. However, the pretty moon has trapped me in an eclipse, and I know it’ll be all dark for a while.

A Review by Dr. Anurag Upadhyay

Dear Grey,

I just finished reading your book, Eclipse – Trapped in Darkness, and I felt compelled to reach out to you.  Your exploration of the stages of grief in a failed relationship from the perspective of a clingy partner was both insightful and thought-provoking.

Your writing skillfully captured the complexities of love, attachment, and loss. I appreciated how you shed light on the often-overlooked perspective of the partner who struggles with letting go. Your protagonist’s journey was a poignant reminder that grief can be a transformative experience, leading to growth and self-awareness.

The sun setting through a dense forest.

What resonated with me most was the nuanced portrayal of the fine line between love and obsession. Your book expertly highlighted the dangers of suffocating a relationship with neediness and possessiveness. This theme served as a valuable reminder of the importance of healthy boundaries and mutual respect in any partnership.

Some of my favourite sections of the book were:

When you explained in the chapter DISTANT that sometimes we don’t need a solution, all we need is a warm reply.

The way you were Ashamed of being the pathetic guy.

One of my best lines from your book I want to mention (from the chapter IMAGINARY):

“What can be is not what it is,

And what’s possible is not the present.

Things we can do is not how we act,

And what we can be is not who we are.”

Lastly, I want to tell you how thrilled I was after reading your poem “A Chair On the Way.”

The way you metaphorically used the forestland, the deep woods, and the chair. At the end of that poem, when you mentioned the next chair that you sat on, but this time, you rested, rejoiced, and left without the frown, it felt like an OPEN ENDING to me. You left it to readers to adapt it according to their understanding.

I am still wondering what that second chair you were referring to was.

I have two theories for that:

a. Sometimes I think that the second chair was that same girl (as you mentioned the same brown chair), and this time she came to your life but then you handled everything gracefully.

b. But I also think that it could refer to an entirely new person, and you’ve learned so much from your previous relationship that now you are not as clingy and pushy as you used to be.

Correct me if I’m interpreting it incorrectly.

I would love it if you could come and throw some light on that, or you could still leave it as your mystery, and it’s up to you.

Thank you for crafting a narrative that encourages readers to reflect on their own relationships and emotional patterns.

Sincerely,

Dr. Anurag Upadhyay

This book tells a story about a person feeling down and tired until a shining, lovely moon brings inspiration and hope in their life. However, things take a dark turn when the moon’s bright side disappears, leaving darkness behind. The person feels trapped in an eclipse, cut off from sunlight and warmth. The book beautifully captures the contrast between the bright and dark moments in life. It’s a short and emotional journey about the ups and downs we face. Read The Words I Couldn’t Say

Days pass by, and we grow up, but do we really? Adulting can be challenging, but the teenage was horrible as well. I can’t hope for happy days. Who am I kidding? I never stop hoping. It’s the last leaf I hold on to, to save me from drowning.

However, I am aware that things won’t get much brighter in the future. The feeling of…

The Words I Couldn’t Say

I am lying to myself right now and to you as well. Because I secretly wish for my days to become merrier, my life, happier. These expectations had me falling for people. Falling for their smile, the lovely things they said and did. Falling for the dreams I dreamt with them, or alone. And that got me hurt. I often told myself I would stop expecting, but I doubt it.
